Four teens were injured yesterday in Seatle when their 1989 Ford Probe was struck by a pickup making a lane change. Their car struck a power pole. The teens were seriously injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The accident is being investigated along with the possibiilty that the pickup’s driver, Gregory L. Kindall, made and unsafe lane change.

The teens were identified as Craig E. Carlson, 18, of Shoreline, Brandon M. Ward-Steepy, 15, of Lake Forest Park; and James L. Guberlet, 15, and Connor A. Richardson, 15, of Shoreline.

This case will likely present questions relating to the pickup driver’s insurance policy limits. Often cars have a “100/300” policy, where the per-person limits are $100,000 and the available total coverage–for all injured persons–is $300,000. This can raise issues about fairly allocating the available insurance coverage where there are multiple injured persons. Each of the injured teens should probably have his or her own attorney.
